Going To The Movies, Worth It Or Not?

So last weekend a few esteemed colleagues of mine and myself decided to see if the hype about Iron Man was true. Now, I'll admit that it had been a while since I actually walked into a movie theater but I was never expecting how much the prices had actually changed! First I had to pay $9.75 to buy a ticket. This I am perfectly fine with because I realize movie theaters need to turn a profit to stay open.

Next, I walk to the concession stand to get a few large drinks and a large popcorn. As I approach the stand I glance up at the menu and see that there's a numbers menu and number 2 happens to be what I want. Quite suspiciously though there are no prices listed and a large popcorn doesn't seem to be the size it use to be. "Oh well", I say to myself and I order the drinks and popcorn. The cashier rings it up, everything seems to be going fine and then.......WHAM! The cashier (not a day over 17 and probably no real concept of past prices) humbly exclaims, "That'll be $15 sir." I shouted, "$15.00! How do you people sleep at night?!" Then there's an awkward pause as she gladly waits for my money. So I pay the $15 and as I'm walking away with my head down pondering what is going on in this world, I thought I over heard her say, "She sleeps on a king size bed!" I ignored what I "thought" I heard and headed to the movie theater.

After the movie I decided to do a little research to help myself better understand why the movies cost so much? I highly suggest reading it, especially if you are anything like me, where little things send your blood pressure through the roof! I'll tell you what, I did learn a few things from the movie experience:

1. Stop at a gas station before hand and get what you'd like for the movie theaters.
2. Always wear a jacket to put those things in.
3. If its too hot out for a jacket, make sure your girl or one of the girl's your hopefully with has a large purse.
