Winter Restoration Projects

Robert N. Rose stated, "Ships are the nearest things to dreams that hands have ever made." For me, this could not be more true. Unfortunately and fortunately some of my dreams are spawned from regrets. This winter I plan to take on two restoration projects that have sentimental meanings to myself. The first project is a 1967 Mark Twain VSonic boat powered by a 120hp Mercruiser engine. This boat has been in my family since it was brand new. Here's a pictures of my mother with the boat from the 70's.
Unfortunately over the past 5 years because of time constraints I've neglected this boat and it's taken a beating. I do regret neglecting it. Here are a bunch of pictures of what it looks like now.

Now I'm not any boat export or restorer but I'm going to give it my best and hopefully she turns out looking completely original, with the exception of some cup holders. I want to go with the original look because I love how something is a period piece and can be used exactly how it was from the 60's. I also love the weight, chrome features, and the classic look.

The next restoration project that I will be undertaking during these winter months is a go-kart. This is the same go-kart that my Uncle Vito use to race and that I grew up driving on the streets of Wisconsin. It too has taken a beating over the years but hopefully will breathe life yet again. Here's a few pictures:

I'll update this blog as I attack these projects.
