BP has doctored photos. What?! Are you kidding me?! How could such a large and powerful organization do such a thing? Is it possible that BP became large and powerful with such bad ethics? Well....yes it is. From the dawn of time America and many Americans have been obsessed with doing whatever is necessary to get ahead. It actually seems like the one playing it straight looses to the one not more often than not.
Look at politics. Every politician promises the universe and delivers a small island. It has gotten to the point that so much is promised that people shrug it off as a joke and not even a blatant lie. I couldn't begin to write every lie that every president has told to or done to get themselves ahead.
Politicians aren't the only ones who lie. Many many athletes have been caught lying about performance enhancing drugs (PED's). Some noteable ones are Shawn Merriman, Mark Meguire, and Rafael Palmiero. Palmiero went before congress under oath and blatantly lied. Surely he would face consequences? Nope. His use of PED's allowed him to play longer and make millions. I can see how an up and coming baseball player would say to himself, "Why not use them. What's the worst that can happen? I make millions before they catch me."
Even so called "normal people" like you and I have been known to cheat. People lie on their resumes, cheat in school, and some swindle whatever they can. It's just so sad to me that the nice guy does really finish last. His or her surroundings have caused them to actually have to lie, cheat, or steal just to be competitive enough to survive. Personally I create a distinction for hustlers: good and bad.
As a side note, I watched this wonderful documentary entitled Bigger Faster Stronger. It takes a look at PED's in the world of sports. Here's the trailer:
What else is there to say but goodnight and goodnight to you Mrs. Amore, wherever you may be.
