Saving Money - How To Extreme Coupon (Northwest Suburbs of Illinois)

This second part of saving money will deal with extreme couponing.  If you are like me you always hear how people are acquiring $300 of groceries for $55 but have no idea how to get the coupons, the terminology, and how many you are allowed to use at once.  Therefore, I decided to experiment with extreme couponing and I will document what I did, how I did it, and how much money I saved.  So, today is day 1 of extreme couponing and here's what I got so far:
Where To Find Coupons
  • Newspaper Inserts.
    • The inserts should be either Smart Source, Red Plum, or Procter & Gamble.
    • Probably will need 4-6 copies of each paper.
    • If you can get a weekly subscription to the Sunday paper for under $2 it's a deal.
  • Printable Coupons.
  • Contact the Manufacturer Directly
    • 30% of all people who contact the manufacturer receive coupons. So, what do you have to loose?
Tips
  • Have the stores coupon policy on hand in case you stack coupons.
  • Buy in bulk.
  • Only buy items you use.
  • Go where the sales are.
  • Plan your meal menus around coupons.
