Droves of people lined up early at the Toys 'R' Us store in Times Square on Tuesday to get their hands on the action figure depicting Ledger's character in the upcoming Batman sequel, 'The Dark Knight'.
"There are none left in the warehouse, either. You will be waiting a while if you want one," one store employee told a local TV station.
But it's not just fans buying up the figures, many collectors are stocking up on the toy, convinced the figure is a collector's item following the actor's tragic passing earlier this actor due to a prescription drug overdose.
I must be the only one who thinks that people who buy this doll for an investment are not all there upstairs. I understand buying the doll if it were an iconic actor who happened to have a tragic death. Heath Ledger was good, and I'm a fan, but he wasn't iconic. I personally see this as a slap in the face to Ledger.
