Right now I'm sitting here listening to my Sinatra at the Sands record (yes, I said record!) and I began thinking about a show that I watched earlier in the day called Happy Hour on the Fox Business Network. While watching this show Rebecca, Eric, and Cody were doing a segment that involved interviewing a fire chief who believed that the court settlement of almost 600 million that New York City and contractors would have to pay was not enough for the damages caused by the pollution stemming from the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The fire chief provided some dazzling evidence (in my opinion) the Court ruling was short changing the people who were most affected. His examples included 1000 fire workers have since died, asthma has increased, and even people living around the area have had children born with problems, and the U.S. has repeatedly funded nations around the world (with more money than provided to N.Y.C. workers) when tragedy has struck them. The fire chief then went on about when this happens again how will workers be inspired and how will their family members be inspired to let them be heroes by saving lives if they are not taken care of in the future. I have read both sides arguments and for the record I agree with the Fire Chief.
After watching this segment, for the rest of the night I began thinking about whether I am inspired and if not how to become inspired and stay that way. Immediately after mentally fumbling through my thoughts I remembered an instance that happened recently in a restaurant. A friend of mine asked our waitress what she enjoyed doing besides serving tables. She replied, "I don't know." At which point my friend replied, "I guess I'll be seeing you in the future then." At the time, I did not think much of her reply just that the lady was content with where she was at with her life. However, looking back on it I can clearly see that she was not inspired to continually improve upon herself.
For myself, my inspiration has to come from certain things I surround myself with. My home work desk is where I spend most of my time at when I'm home from work and I keep certain things on there to steer me in the correct direction. Have a look:
What about yourself? Are you ready to improve upon your most important attribute...you...by achieving your goals? No matter what you're goals are, you can achieve them by persevering.
Here are a few of my favorite inspirational quotes:
"That's something to be proud of
That's a life you can hang your hat on
You don't need to make a million
Just be thankful to be workin'
If you're doing what you're able
And putting food there on the table
And providing for the family that you love
That's something to be proud of"
"Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment."
"I shall pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again."
Always ask yourself, "What is the end that I seek, and what is the most practical way to get there?"Good luck!
What else is there to say but goodnight and goodnight to you Mrs. Amore, wherever you may be.
