Second City No More!...Nevermind Chicago Still Is.

"I want to wake up in a city that doesn't sleep. And find that I'm king of the hill, top of the heap..these little town blues are melting away. I'll make a brand new start of it in ol' New York!" -Frank Sinatra

And I could not agree with him more! Recently I had the pleasure of making my first trip to New York. Manhattan specifically. Like most others from Chicago I grew up with hometown pride and never thought we were the second city (Fact of the day: The name Second City given to Chicago actually came about when Chicago was rebuilt after the great fire. Not because it's a smaller New York.) behind New York.
In-fact when people brought it up we would have great arguments about how we had the best fights, biggest movie premiers, more talent, and even a better mafia family. The sad truth however, is that Chicago is the second city. When I was in New York I realized the city still has big fights, bigger movie premiers, Broadway, history, nicer people, and even better architecture (Chicago claims to have the best). I was completely taken by surprise as too how much I enjoyed New York. New York even seemed to be cleaner and kept up better in most area compared to Chicago. Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying Chicago is a dump. I happen to love Chicago very much and it is one of the two best cities in the United States. It just happens that New York is the best city. In New York I was really surprised as too how much tourism they have and the way the city has tables and chairs everywhere for people just to sit and enjoy themselves. They really seem to cater to the person a bit more than Chicago does. I would recommend visiting New York to anyone who has not been.

Here's some pictures and videos from my trip:

Times Square

Ellis Island

Empire State Building
